- Electronics and the intake covered firstAlternator, fuse box, coils and the intake mouth are protected before any liquid appears.
- Degreased by hand, low pressureWorked with brushes rather than blasted. A pressure washer in a bay is how connectors fill with water.
- Plastic covers, hoses and the loomThe parts you actually see when the hood is up, cleaned without lifting anything off the engine.
- Firewall, strut towers and inner fendersThe edges of the bay hold the most build-up and get skipped the most often.
- Underside of the hood and the sealsIncluding the insulation pad, worked gently, because a soaked pad sags and never fully dries.
- Dried and dressedBlown out and dried by hand, then plastics dressed to a low sheen instead of left wet-looking.

- Anything mechanicalNothing is opened, unbolted, topped up or adjusted. We clean the bay, we do not work on it.
- Steam or high-pressure washingIt is faster and it is how water gets where it should not be. We do not do it.
